Minori & Ravello
Our home base for 7 days on the Amalfi Coast will be Minori, a charming seaside town of about 2,700 people. Situated midway along the incredibly beautiful Amalfi Coast, Minori is the perfect launch point for our visits of the surrounding areas. (Minori is still off the American radar screen and retains its fresh, friendly, and authentic atmosphere.)
Ravello is arguably the most spell-bindingly exotic town on the entire Amalfi Coast. You’ll love the melding of European-medieval and Arabic cultures displayed in the architecture of Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo. And both villas have beautiful gardens from which you’ll enjoy breath-taking panoramic views of the Amalfi Coast and the sparkling Mediterranean below.

Pompeii, Positano & Amalfi
A short ride from the Amalfi Coast, we'll visit Pompeii, the most famous archeological site of the ancient Roman world. We’ll visit the ancient forum, with its temples, law court, and food market. We’ll also visit homes of the wealthy; the quarters where the slaves slept and worshipped their own gods; public baths; and much more.
A slight change of pace – an informal, relaxing, awe-inspiring ferry trip along the Costiera Amalfitana. Down at the Minori dock we'll catch a ferry for an incredibly picturesque ride along the coast. We'll hop off for tours at historic Amalfi (founded in the year 339 C.E.) and at colorful Positano (the area likely having been inhabited as far back as 6,000 B.C.E.) to explore a bit and maybe relax in a local bar with an icy limoncello or a tasty, refreshing gelato as you watch the world go by.

La Reggia di Caserta & Naples
The Reggia di Caserta is the Bourbon Royal Palace at Caserta (just outside of Naples). This 18th-century marvel was built to rival Versailles Palace. Though we can't visit each one of its 1,200 rooms, the ones you will see are as exquisite as they are extravagant. The complex at Caserta is exceptional for the way in which it brings together a magnificent palace with its park, gardens, ponds, water falls, and monumental outdoor sculpture.
Our home base for 2 days, Naples was founded by Greeks in the 6th century B.C.E. Ever since then, it has thrived as a major commercial connection point between Europe and the eastern & southern Mediterranean world, enjoying a remarkably rich, multi-faceted culture. Our private tours will take us to the National Archaeological Museum of Naples (housing artifacts from Pompeii and other areas buried by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 C.E.), the stunning Cappella Sansevero (with its famous "Veiled Christ" statue), and Via San Gregorio Armeno (lined with artisan workshops that produce the city’s traditional nativity scenes). And we’ll be sure to stop in Piazza San Domenico Maggiore for a special Neapolitan coffee and the world's finest sfogliatella pastry.

The trip to Venice and Sicily that I took with Dan’s tour group was the trip of a lifetime! He is extremely well organized and very personable. He brings a wealth of knowledge to his tours, as well as great enthusiasm.
