Step 1 I learn your interests (art? adventure? the people? food & wine? etc.), what you specifically want to see and do, and your preferred style(s) of travel.
Start by registering for the Italy Adagio Planning service. (CLICK HERE TO REGISTER.) Then we'll get right to work.
You'll receive an email with a specially prepared questionnaire to fill out and return. Your completed questionnaire will create a fuller picture of your interests, preferences, "must-haves", "must-not-haves", and overall budget.
Once you've returned the completed questionnaire, we will set up a convenient time to talk by phone (usually about 30-45 minutes) to help clarify any outstanding questions either of us may have.
Step 2 A one-of-a-kind itinerary is created just for you.
After you return the completed questionnaire, I will prepare and email to you your personal custom-made day-by-day itinerary.
Your itinerary will include:
At least one structured activity or event per day
Recommendations for accommodations, major activities and events related to your interests, private guides, small-group guided tours, in-Italy transportation, etc.
I will also send you the following:
A list of the website addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers for recommended hotels, activities, events, private guides, small-group tours, etc.
The prices for hotels, guides, guided tours, special activities, and events.
Insider suggestions for special activities and events, such as the following:
a get-to-know-your-host(s) dinner in a private home
an exclusive after-hours viewing (quiet, no crowds, take your time) of Michelangelo's incredible ceiling frescoes in the Sistine Chapel
exclusive visit (with mini-tour) at an art conservation workshop
an exclusive piano recital in the Renaissance-palazzo home of a distinguished pianist who has performed on four continents
a hot-air balloon ride over the Tuscan countryside at sunrise
a private sight-seeing boat excursion along the awe-inspiring Amalfi Coast or around the legendary Isle of Capri
a tour of Italy's most fabulous silk production workshop, still using centuries-old hand looms
attendance at a traditional local festival – celebrating the wine harvest, or the town's patron saint, or the gathering of porcini mushrooms, etc.
hosted visits to exquisite private gardens and villas
Personally prepared Travelers' Information Sheets, including the following:
Seasonal Wardrobe Suggestions

After you go over the itinerary, you can approve it or send it back with comments on how to better tailor it to your travel vision.
If necessary, I'll prepare and send you a revised itinerary addressing your comments.
Step 3 Enjoy the trip of a lifetime! Remember that Italy Adagio will always be available to consult or advise if you need to make last-minute or in-trip changes.
